Chartered and admitted to Rotary International on February 28 of 1959. The Elmsford Rotary Club is a unique small club in the epicenter of an international business community and included in its membership throughout the years have been representatives of these large domestic and foreign organizations commingled with the local businessman and professionals. All of these men and women have been dedicated to the principle of "SERVICE ABOVE SELF" and adhere to Rotary's FOUR WAY TEST THE VILLAGE OF ELMSFORD Elmsford is a one square mile village in the heart of Westchester County and it is located 25 miles north of New York City. Within a 10 miles radius are located the offices and laboratories of a number of the largest business organizations in the world. Among them are the world headquarters of AMF Inc., General Foods and Fuji. National hotels are near by and include Ramada, Marriott, Stouffer, Hilton and Holiday Inns. Nearby, sizeable Industrial parks house many foreign as well as domestic companies. The Village is steeped in our country's history. The winds of the Revolutionary War swirled about the Village and it was here that Major John Andre, the infamous British spy, was captured by three local militiamen, one of whom was Isaac Van Wart. His remains now lie in the little local cemetery grounds of the Elmsford Reform Church which was established in 1780. Legend has it that the Village was named by George Washington himself. Elmsford is a warm little Village, with friendly industrious people, inspired by the towers of industry which rise around it, but at the same time, mellowed by it's own sense of history.
